Documents you'll usually need
Standard returnable documents for South African government bids. Check the tender's own list too.
- CSD registration report (MAAA number). Government can't award to suppliers missing from the Central Supplier Database.
- SARS tax compliance status PIN. A non-compliant tax status usually disqualifies the bid.
- B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit. Without it you score zero preference points. An affidavit with mismatched dates is invalid.
- COIDA letter of good standing. Required for most government work and construction sites.
- CIPC company registration (CoR 14.3). Proves the company exists and who its directors are.
- Bank confirmation letter. Many tenders ask for one dated within the last 3 months.
- Municipal rates clearance or lease. Often required to show municipal accounts are not in arrears.
- Attendance at the compulsory briefing. Bids from firms that didn't attend are rejected.
